The Arlesey/Stotfold BranchThe Arlesey/Stotfold Branch continues to be very active on behalf of the local community. It meets every two months, alternating meetings between Arlesey and Stotfold:
Arlesey at the home of the Chair, Ann Brown (tel: 01462 732576).
Stotfold at the home of the Secretary and Treasurer, Clive & Liz Bandy (tel: 01462 730 147)The Labour Group is keen to welcome any newcomers to the area - including those from the new housing developments of the past year.
Links with the new unitary council are a major focus for the group this year. The Central Bedfordshire unitary council officially came into being on April 1st, 2009. It covers an area stretching from Potton in the north-east of this constituency to Leighton Buzzard in the south-west. Ann Brown is already active in attempting to maintain and improve the Health Service provision under this new council via LINks(Local Involvement Networks).
An recent example of action taken by this Labour Branch was its full participation in the consultation process and resident action over the Arlesey medical centre. The successful result was that the surgery will remain under the management of Dr Attias.
The Arlesey/Stotfold Labour Group is continually lobbying for improved local public transport services. It is also active in pressing for greater links with the rest of the UK - in particular the railway service.
