Bedford Borough Council currently has 12 Labour Party members. Although none were elected in a Ward within the N E Bedfordshire constituency, they are our elected representatives on this Council.

Biggleswade Town Council has 3 elected Labour Party members. This Group, led by David Albone, is active in attempting to improve provision of services and amenities for the every-day person - such as provision of a central Community Centre. Environmental and ethical issues - such as Fair Trade - are constantly being emphasised at council meetings.

Sandy, Potton and Stotfold Town Councils have Labour Party representatives on them. See the Local Branches page for contact information.

Many other councils exist within this constituency - Town and Parish Councils. It is traditional that many of the Parish Councils in NE Beds are non-political - elected members who stood as 'Independent'. However, among these councillors are many with views and values similar to or the same as those of Labour Party.

Central Bedfordshire Council has one Labour Party member - from Leighton Buzzard, and therefore outside this constituency. However, Sheila Grayston - the local Party agent - is always able to assist Labour supporters with issues at this Unitary Authority tier of decision making.
