It is the firm belief in the N.E. Bedfordshire Labour Party that women should play a full part in politics at every level. This accords with the national objective of women candidates in at least 50% of winnable seats.

The Women's Forum aims to encourage and support women members to take a full and active part in the life of the Party. It sets out to establish and address the particular interests and needs of women in N.E. Beds. All women members are automatically members of the Women's Forum.

Current issues being tackled by the Women's Forum include schooling in Bedfordshire. The Forum is also looking at the possibility of altering the time of some constituency meetings in order to make them more 'women and child friendly'.

The recently appointed local Labour Party's Women's Officer is Cheryl McDonald. She lives in Sandy and is helping re-form a Labour Party Branch for the Sandy/Potton area of the constituency.

Cheryl is on hand to help all women members and supporters make a contribution. Contact via the Secretary, Terry Carroll.

All members of the constituency Womem's Forum were invited by Barbara Follett MP to the International Women's Day Celebrations at Nebworth on Saturday 6th March.

The event began at Constance Lytton's tomb in Knebworth Park. Please contact the Women's Officer (below) for details of events such as this.
